[Error Code] Ricoh IMC3500 - SC144 - SBU Comm error

    Hey Chaps,

Have an IMC3500 with Sc144 on display, Reseated scanner ribbon cables but no joy. Manual points towards BICU or Scanner carriage assembly replacement. Before I start ordering expensive bits has any one ever seen it before and has a fix?

    Cheers

Is there any movement in the scanner before or while reporting the code? One test I would do is unplug the ADF from the box.
Try moving the lamphead by hand and check for obstructions, if too hard it could be the motor

    1. Reconnect the following connectors: • Scanner carriage - BICU harness (FFC)
    2. Replace the scanner carriage.
    3. Replace the BICU (PCB10).
    4. Replace the following harnesses: • Scanner carriage - BICU harness (FFC)

No movement of scanner at power on, no lamp on either. Scanner carriage moves freely by hand, no obstructions. ADF disconnected gives same error.

Did you reset it to sp mode? Also check the sc in the history.
Check the white reference seal on the back of the platen exposure glass

the machine cannot comunicate with carriage assy, missing comunication, try to replace the ribbon cable first, should be the cheapest attempt

Has anyone been in the back of it and swung the controller box out? Just copped for one where someone didn't disconnect the ribbon cable while doing so and mullered it, new cable fixed the problem.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.

              Quick update guys....

this turned out to be the carriage unit. Replaced complete unit and warranty part.

              Thanks
