    MPC 6004

so i am wondering if anyone has run into this issue and found a solution. i have a ricoh mpc6004 with a sr3220 finisher. of course, since it has the external finisher it has the bridge unit installed. whenever i try to copy or print and send a job to the finisher. doesn't matter if i am trying to staple at the shift tray or use the booklet fold option. sometimes it works fine. other times it will jam in the fuser and exit unit area. this does not happen every time. but the jams are always in that area. and some jams are accordion, though some are not. doesn't matter paper size, i have tried letter and ledger sizes. paper settings are correct. firmware for the copier is up to date. i have not found a firmware for the finisher itself. but if i run a job and it comes out the exit unit directly above the bridge unit, it works fine. that area i have also tried the different sizes of paper. at the exit above the bridge, i have no issues, it works find. i have changed the paper, in case it was bad from a ream. it did show error j020 and j022. which points to the exit unit and that area. things i had tried to fix this issue. as i mentioned, firmware is up to date. i have replaced the paper feed rollers in both trays. i have replaced both the fuser and the exit unit assy. i replaced the exit unit assy because of those error codes. what i am thinking is going on, but i honestly don't know. i know when the copier begins a job of any sort. each section engages within so many parts of a second to prepare for the job. i am thinking something isn't engaging at the correct time when the finisher is preparing to receive the job. as i mentioned sometimes it works fine. so if i am making a booklet. say it has 5 pgs, front and back, center fold with staple. if i am making 10 copies. the first couple might print and do just fine. but when it starts the third one. it might print the first couple of pages, then it jams in the location i have described. i am hoping i have provided enough details. i feel like i wrote a small novel. any suggestions are appreciated. thanks everyone.

oh the reason i had replaced the fuser was for a different quality issue. but that was only done a week or two before i replaced the exit unit assy. and i figured since it was that area the new fuser would help with that as well. it had this issue before i replaced the fuser. and yes i only use ricoh parts.

Anytime with a bridge unit installed I would look for problems with funky mini push button switches for the jam covers on the bridge unit. Check for a high J000 count.

I had one that kept jamming like that. The screws came loose on the plastic guide to the entrance of the bridge unit. Have to take it out to check them.

It is on the bridge unit. The entrance that you lift up for jam removal.
