This error when trying to scan. Also when make copy only a part of original is copied. Noticed at the bottom left side of the copier several error messages appear. Any idea?

860 B HDD error 1
The hard disk connection is not
detected because it is defective
or has not been formatted
• Cable between HDC and HDD loose or defective
• HDD power connector loose or defective
• HDD not formatted
• HDD defective
• Replace the controller board

What are the other codes or errors? What have you done in the meantime?

Seriously....are you just too lazy to open a manual and at least look up the code(s) and try SOMETHING? ANYTHING?

You will not be able to print, scan, use the document server or any other function that need to use the HDD for temporary storage. This includes sorted multi-page multi-copy documents more than the number of pages that can be stored in RAM. If the HDD is bad, you may have already lost address book. If you have an external drive tray you can use it to connect to a PC and try a low level format.

I don't need address book or to store multiple pages. I mostly need to prin and if possible to scan. If i remove hard disk will i be able to print , scan some pages and if if there is a limit at this case how many?

SC 860 is generally related to the hard drive or the controller. It is not only the hard drive. Sometimes you have to change the controller or both.

Without the hard drive you cannot print, scan, sort, do multiple copies or anything that requires more than just 1 basic copy!

I would recommend trying this
1) remove hard drive. Put into a computer and test. If there are no errors you can put it back into the copier
2) remove the hard drive, replace the controller and switch the copier on. If it works the hard drive is at fault.
3) buying a 2.5inch hard drive and putting it in the machine. If this solves your problem then it's the hard drive. If not you need to replace the controller.

NO

The predecessor to the 2951 was the 2550. It had a Basic copier model 2550B that had no HDD and no printing capabilities.

Some very limited scanning might be available. Possibly only TWAIN as it does not require storing on the MFP.

Just remove the hard drive and see if the machine will come to ready without it. Then you have your answer.

Usually its hard disk problem. Normally, I just plug in to my pc using external case and format it.(Need abit PC knowledge as it wont detect hard disk at first)
If not working, need to change new one.
