    Strange paper problem MPC2500

    IMG_1526.jpg

    See sample attached.
This page actually made it through but the pic is of the back side so the separation is more visible.
I found a few random sheets in the paper tray similarly torn/separated.
I checked the ream of paper and could not find any in this condition.

Has anyone ever seen anything similar?

    Thanks

I did one time go on a frequent jamming call and found that every tenth sheet of paper in one of the trays 1/2 inch Z fold about 2 inches from the lead edge. No other reams had the same problem.

Usually when I've seen these "scars" on prints it has either been because the paper feed guide(Black one) is loose or missing, but this also tend to result in a lot of paper jams.
Or the paper transfer roller's electrode plate(The metal sheet thing with the sharp thorns). These thorns can sometimes get bent above the groove they sit in and if the paper drags against that I've seen these types of scars as well.

The paper is stored in the case it comes in and they usually install a full ream at a time.
This is a nice law office so it is completely climate controlled and no dust or anything like that.

Check the Fusion Unit, in case it was in bad conditions (band, rollers, bearings ...). If not, check the lower entrance guide to the Fuser Unit, it can accumulate dirt or deform over time.

You don't say if your photo is LEF or SEF ??? Mpc2500, its the fuser. Those fusers are all decrepid now. You are lucky to get a sheet of paper go them still.

Or the paper transfer roller's electrode plate(The metal sheet thing with the sharp thorns)
The paper transfer separation grid, I agree with this possibility also, but you will get a loud scraping noise as the paper goes over it

It's the paper. If it was anything with the C2500 it would either be a mostly straight tear or a pattern that repeats the diameter of the roller that is damaged.

Typical lawyers.....they'd rather use a 15yr old machine than upgrade to a newer machine.
The MPC2500 parts were discontinued in 2016 so how are you able to service it?
                    Compatible parts?
