    AFICIO 240W

    Gretings to everyone!

I have a ricoh 240w that i have been using for the last 5 years working with a Construction/Real estate company.

Lately, i have architects/engineers whom send me many wide formats on cds in PDF's. When i load the files to print, i can have sometimes up to 10-100 print jobs spooling and waiting, BUT THEY TAKE OVER 15 MINUTES TO PRINT ON EACH JOB!

LATELY my job has turned dreadful only because my company is not mickey mouse and most of these bids and jobs are time sensitive!

I am currently using the PLOTBASE software version 3.3.025. I am EXTREMELY CURIOUS to know if there are any updates for the plotbase software/server. I am on a 35 computer network, but my computer is the server to the ricoh 240 copier/plotbase.

I searched ADOBE to see if maybe this is a PDF issue. And i think so! Seems like thousands of people are having PDF issues printing and taking FOREVER! I need a solution. One of you guys have got to know something i dont know! PLEASE HELP! I am about to send this copier off the roof of this warehouse! lol ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! IM OPEN!!

There are updates to the Plotbase software. I think we're up to 3.7 or 3.8.

If your issue is printing from Adobe and you have recently upgraded to the newest version, try downgrading to the previous version of Adobe.

You're best bet is to call your local service provider and have a technician assess the problems you are having.

Hey i just spend a full 45 minutes with some nerdytech that did wonders for me! Did a couple of test and yes, ITS PROVEN....DO NOT USE ADOBE ACROBAT 8.0 PROFESSIONAL. ITS A PIECE OF CRAP!

Pretty much all i did was change the format every PDF opens in...instead of PROFESSIONAL to READER. And now all my print jobs are printing back to back. MAJOR HELP! I got sooo much work to do. SO CORIBAY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR. DOWNGRADING OR CHANGING THE VIEWER WORKS!

DO NOT USE ADOBE ACROBAT PROFESSIONAL 8.0!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're welcome. I've had numerous printing issues after upgrading to the newest version of Adobe products, not just with the Plotbase software. Glad to be of assistance.

If you're stuck using 8.0pro for whatever reason try dropping the resolution to 300dpi - this was a known issue and fix for older versions of acrobat (including reader in 7.01)

Another workaround for the slow plotting issue is to copy and paste the PDFs into the CFG folder on the plotbase server. So long as the page sizes in the PDFs are the same as what you have in the wide format machine, Plotbase will autoplot the file just as if you'd sent it from Adobe.

This may not be of any help at this point, but I would make sure that the machine that Plotbase is running on has at least a Gig of RAM.

There was a site having weird printing issues, and the ram upgrade took care of it. Just a thought......
