the answer is within your question, if the thermistor is out of tune, the controller doesn't know it, so it controls the heater based on incorrect data, (even a toner crust is enough)...however since there is a rindondance with a comparing the signals of the two upper ternistors at a distance, if the deviation remains in a certain range, the machine does not generate any code, but a toner fixing defect is produced.
I would like to remember that the bulk of the sc codes that statistically involve the fuser unit are mostly related to over temperatures.
