The toner is the same but the chip and the cartridge collar is not the same. I have tried this.

I have no experience yet with the IMC series, but if it's the same as the previous units like the MP C3004 - C6004, you CAN use the C3004/C3504 in the C4504/C6004 but NOT the other way around as the cartridges are larger (and possibly keyed differently to only work that way).
BTW.....It's also the same scenario with the B&W units like MP 3054/55 thru MP6055.

I have found out by trial and error that the are the same as the 03,04 series as you can use the upwards but not downwards.
I remember when IMC first came out they used 03,04 toners for a while then went to IMC specific.

I have been running C2003,C2004 toners in IMC2000, C3000,C3004 toners in IMC3000 and C6003,C6004 toners in IMC6000 for over a year now without issue. I have never bought IMC toners for my IMC equipment as the toner is cheaper.

I have observed that the MPC 2503 collars on the flat bottom have equal 2 side gates and on the bottom there is no key on the 2504 cartridge , the same side gates on the 3504 but the bottom has a half gate. The MPC6000 has the same side gates but a 3/4 bottom gate. This is why you can put a 2504 in a 3504 and a 6000 bit not downwards. IMC also has the same bottom gates as the MPC but the side gate on the IMC are different. One side is normal depth and the other side is 1/2 the depth. SOO as far as a MPC fitting in a IMC yes it will. BUT a IMC will not fit in a MPC because of the side gates. ALSO the chip are different. I have swapped a IMC chip on a MPC collar and the toner works as normal.

AS I recall the 03/04 toner was more expensive than the IMC toners soo I believe they change the side gates so you cold not use the IMC, same toner, in the 03/04 machine. Remember this was in the beginning when the IMC was released.

Here in Ireland they changed the firmware and Chip program so we could not do that. But in the beginning we could.

just checked my pricing on the mpc and IMC toners with ricoh and they're the same price for the 45 to 60 page range. the imc20 thru 35 toners are more expensive than the mpc20 thru 35 toners. i carry only the mpc toner for mpc and imc machines. I have several accounts that have mpc6004 and imc 6000 machines and they can't mix up the toners.
