You should be able to order the drum unit (in it's cartridge though) without the dev unit. The part number for the black drum is B223-2042 (MPC2000 - 4500) and D029-2038 (MPC2800 - 5000).

      Good luck in the future
      Peace sells, but who's buying?

European fusers are different - pink wire - pins 1&3 for printer, 2&3 for copier.

this may be a silly question but

swopping the wires as well as grinding the connector, does it make the drum universal for colour & black,

the reason why i ask is because my supplier supplies me with the drum unit universal for the mpc4500 which means it does colour and black

i just wondered if its necessary to swop the wires over or not

              cheers

Well I thought so, but then iMind told me he had used a black drum for color drum without swapping cables. I guess I'll try again next time and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure I tried that and failed first time though.

A universal drum would need to have both corners gone, so yes he probably grinds them down.

If you cut the corner off of a MPC4500 black drum connector then it will fit in both black and colour. Ricoh bought out a universal colour drum but it costs even more than the individual ones did. There is no wire swapping on the MPC4500.

Yes - MPC2800/3300/4000/5000 drums need 2 wires swapping on the PCU plug. If you are looking at the plug with the wires going off the the left and the small tags that hold the pins in towards you, then swap the bottom 2 pins.

No wonder I was never called back after changing the Magenta PCU, it was a MP2500, hehehe. Daniel Jokinen is right, you do need to change the two wires,

                              Hi,

I think that in PCU you only need to modify the corner and it's work fine.
