I assume the firmware is up-to-date. Had this a few years ago. Solved the problem with a new transport assy (B051 4800). I believe there's also an RTB for this problem.

Sounds like a cleaning issue. When you installed the new pcu did you make sure the new spacer is on the cam that raises and lowers the cleaning unit.

I fixed one one time by beating the crap out of it with a 20 lb sledge hammer. No wait, that was a dream.

It wont be a bed until you smash it with the aforementioned hammer.

Eric is talking about the Transport assy. A box of gears and clutches in the back that primarily raise and lower the cleaning unit. The new number is B051-4807.

On A serious note, the fuser can leak silicon oil onto transfer and consequently clog up dev units. What mileage is on the machine and has the oil supply unit been replaced?

If I remember correctly, oil supply unit is 60k life. Anyway pads leak before life count is up, shite machines, sell them a new one

                      Hello,

If its any help we had the same fault today after replacing the pcu , new transport bracket sorted the fault.

All was fine with the old transport bracket before the new pcu was fitted.

How does that surprise me. We've replaced the Transport Bracket on Some machines almost everytime we've replaced the PCU.

                        PIECE OF SHITES!! Grr

If you do two A4 colour copies, does the second one look ok? I was having this problem, replaced to transport assy, job done.

Clean your cleaning unit clutch, it is binding causing the smudges.
                            What? HuH?
