    Colored lines on copy

    Hi everyone,

I have an MPC2500 that's doing the following : When you make a color copy, colored lines are visible in solid areas. For example, in a solid black area I see a thin green line, and in a blue area I see a thin yellow line.
The lines are not visible on the white areas of the paper. Updated scanner, engine, and system firmware and cleaned the optics, but no result. Black copies and all prints are OK.

Before I order a new lens assy, does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks in advance

I had an MPC2500 doing the exact same thing. It was the optics, even though I would swear they were clean enough to do surgery on. The machine was and still is really picky about even the smallest amounts of dust, dirt, fuzz, hairs, smudges, streaks, flea turds, etc. - I'd swear one time it was upset over a few extra hydrogen atoms stuck to one of the mirrors. We replaced the ADF glass (had scratches) and seals and it helped for a while. Swapped out the white ref, SBU, IPU and LIFO boards, Lamp and regulator and did the mirror alignment at one time or annother, but it still doesn't last long.

This is the only machine we have with this problem, and of course, it's in a print shop. (Don't ask me why a 25ppm machine is in a print shop. I can't explain it. I'm not one of the sales vultures)

My next step involves a large hammer.

I had one also caused by the optics what i did was adj the scanner on the left front corner as per the 1035 but with this m/c there is a couple of screws to undo and you can lift the corner up it also has adj marks on the scanner unit

        Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to do some adjustments. When that doesn't work I'll follow Shadows' advice about hammers...

I had a similar fault on a 3245c - traced the problem down to the frame of the optics - it was bent as if something heavy had been put on it, or maybe someone took a hammer to it!!

changed the optics frame (the part the slit glass sits on) it did make a good improvement - but then when these things get bent you need a miracle to sort it out properly.

Your problem couldn't be relating to a laser slit glass on one of the colours or a dev unit problem?

Slot was right about the scanner adjustment. I just returned from the customer. I changed the position of the scanner by losening 4 screws of the scanner frame at the front left corner. After the adjustment most of the lines were gone. Cleaned the optics again and the lines were gone.

                    Call it a Team Effort.

Sounds like the hammer would have helped on my machine too.

I wasn't thinking about the scanner adjustment - all I've ever seen warped scanners do is skewed images and uneven image density. I didn't think about it changing the focal point from the paper to the underside of the scanner glass. I gotta talk to the primary tech on that machine and see if it helps.

This customer has moved his machine from one room to another a few months ago. Maybe they pulled the machine at the left corner.
