    savin 8090 w-adf going crazy

place an original in the adf and the table goes up and down, up and down, cleaned and swapped sensors checked continuity throughout the harness ok. now after putting it back together the only response i have is the door sensor. tested sensors in sp and the only one it can see is the door sensor. ideas appreciated. thanks t

Ricoh has an ADF kit (B2349825) that includes a longer sensor harness and wire saddles.Has a bulletin(#44) out on this issue.

So if the lift table lifts up and continuously tries to lift up it may be this harness? We get an SC 704/705 when this happens. We had this happen first time today at one of our customers.

          isn't 704 / 705 a finisher code?

            Vulkor,
The harness has taken care of the SC704,705 codes also.Usually the harness is frayed where it makes a bend by the frame.Sometimes hard to find, but if you look hard enough you will find it.Has driven me crazy on several calls but finally found it.

Replaced the Harness with the One from the Service Bulletin. No love.

I went there this time to see this mess.

When you Turn on the Machine the Adf Lift will try to lower even though it is already lowered. Sometimes it goes up then down and continues to try to go down. Took that ADF area apart to replace harness and found no broken parts. Tried replacing Sensors in that area. No love.

The motor seems to work, so we are guessing the ADF control board.

This could be caused by the adf original table being bent down.
Remove the adf front cover and check the support bracket under the front of the original table. If the customer has put something heavy on the adf (eg. box of paper), the bracket can get bent down. This can be enough to mis-align the lift table so plastic tab under the table does not actuate the down sensor. You may see the drive gears continually twitching as it tries to lower the table further.
If you are careful, you can re-form the bracket back to its original position.

Hope this is of some help.

This is what we are thinking. We bent it and shaped it several times to try to alleviate the problem. We overnighted another plated and the board. If the plate fixes it we are stuck with a brand new 8090 ADF control board.

ok So replaced AFT Control Board, Harness, ADF Lift Sensor, ADF paper detection Sensor. ADF Lift motor, ADF Lift Plate. We were about to tear our hair out when I finally told the Service Manager. Hey do what I do when I can't figure it out. Take this crap APART.

So opening the Paper Feed Cover, and taking the Pulley Cover off, which hides the Paper Length Sensor and the Entrance Sensor. We had cleaned the Entrance Sensor. its Visible to the eye. But the Paper Length Sensor is behind this plate. Removing the plate and cleaning this sensor.
Fixed the SC 705, and stopped the ADF from continuously trying to lower itself. REALLY Bazaar since that sensor has NOTHING to do with the ADF lift table.
