    Ricoh Aficio AF-350, looks so "laser-ish"........

    ....... machine has 400K. Do you think the Laser Unit is going to the Eternal Hunting Grounds soon or could it more HV/Bias related?

          Hmm, in the good(?) old anlalog Days i would bet on a flickering Scanner Lamp, maybe due to broken cable. But i think, you checked this already.

          What about a Print (counter reading), looks it equal?

          Do the black areas vary in Size and Position, or are they at the same Place every Sheet?

          Personally, I assume a charge Problem, not a Laser issue, due to the solid black Area. Look for Drum Ground, Chargeroller and his Contact, the HVT for bad Soldering Joints or Temperature issues

              It's the charge roller and contacts.. Take the roller out clean it good. Check the contacts that are on the front of the roller housing and make sure they are clean and make good contact with each other.

                  I have to side with Jimbo. If it was a flickering scan lamp you'd get codes. The laser would produce effects far more bizarre.

                  Primary charge contact problems are very common. =^..^=
                  If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                          Its the Ricoh copier objecting to the Konica test original.

                          Assuming both the original and copy were fed LEF I'll back the charge. It actually looks like a bad drum ground, but that produces washed copies and grey areas - not black

                              My bet is: you put in a new drum or blade with no lubricant on it, the drum got stuck and broke the drum shaft gear on the back of the machine behind the fly wheel, now the drum takes too much time to start rotating thats why you get the solid black area at the begining of copy, good old Nads...
