My clients copier was stuck on the 'Please Wait' screen with the red spanner LED lit. It never came to a ready state.
I disconnected both the two 40GB Hard drives and the copier came to ready but with error 'SC 870 'and 'Address Book Error' showing in the top left of the display.
The copier works as both a printer and a copier but still with this error in the top left display.
I have performed SP-5-832 to format the hard drives but it either fails or hangs.
I suspected I need to replace the Hard drives however Im not sure this is crucial or not.
I had removed the hard drives to see if I could format with my PC but the format failed. I have formatted plenty of hard drives this way. One of the 2 drives wouldnt even be detected on my PC.
Can it be used without the hard drives and some how disabling the top left display 'SC 870' and 'Address Book Error' error?
In the mean time, I decided to buy two 40GB hard drives are install them.
After installation, still the same error! And also could not format. This time after selecting to format all, the display just showed a failed message.
I have tested the copier with one drive in at a time but still cannot format.
I have changed the jumper from CS (cable select) to Master and still no go!
I am told these machines only have one 80GB hard drive clipped to 40GB in them and it is set to Master. But, the print controller board has two IDE ports and also the HDD cage has two slots for two HDD's.
The error appears whether or not it is plugged into the network or not. It appears immediately on boot up.
The HDD's modelI installed are Maxtor 6E040L0 7200rpm 40GB drives.
Any ideas please?!!!????!!!
