Aficio 2228 - Cross feed lines

    lo

I'm really stuck with this 1, and i bet 5 bob (not worth much due to the week pound) its somthing stupid

but i have a problem with a Ricoh Aficio 2228C, I'm getting a Megenta and a Cyan line accross the page in Cross feed direction. (Not paper feed)

i have replaced the transfer belt, megenta and cyan dev, removed, stripped & cleaned the drum's, switched drums, cleaned transfer unit, vacuumed sockets where drums slot into, applied conductive grease to the contacts for the dev units

i'm starting to wonder weather its juddering but strangely the 1st print has the lines on the 2nd is ok and u guessed it the 3rd has the lines and so on

    Cheers

It'll either be dirt in the tiny teeth on the big white drive gears or the drive motors

Make a test print in cyan and then magenta.
Then lay them on the transfer belt and see which PCU the lines match up with. Then see where the lead/trail edge of the paper is. If the lead edge is at the fuser entrance then the fuser speed needs adjusting. If the trail edge is at the registration rollers then the colour drum speed needs adjusting.
The lines often occur when the unit speeds do not match.

I would check the drive train for a gear with a small crack or chipped/missing tooth.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Check the transfer bias roller if you haven't already. That's the thin black foam roller at the entrance of the transfer unit. You can sometimes clean it, but sometimes it just needs to be replaced. I had weird random cross-feed magenta and cyan lines and this was the issue.
