    2232c noise

I have a 2232c throwing various codes such as sc-386,87 when turning the machine on. Turning it back off and on again gets it going.

Also when you turn on the machine, about 45 seconds into initialization it makes a noise. It makes the same noise when you open and close the front cover as it re-initializes.

The noise also occurs when making color copies but NOT when making black and white copies.

Today I replaced all the devs and the noise was still present and it would threw codes when I did Auto Color Calibration.

Any ideas as to what me causing this?

    TIA

Have you checked the cleaning unit on the ITB ?

It seems more like its coming from the magenta or cyan devs or at least from that area maybe towards the mid-to-rear of the machine.

Here is a vid I took with my mobile phone.

The background noise is from a computer server with nuclear fired cooling fan sitting on a table next to the copier.

I know it may seem like that, but it's definitely not coming from that area.

Cheat the door and pinch the ITB cleaning unit blade release lever and see if the noise goes away.
Don't take that toner with me!

okay I'll try that. Why would it only make the noise when doing color?

You said you replaced the Developer units, did you replace the drum units also. I had one making a sound only when making color and when initializing. I replaced the drum and developer units and it went away. I believe it was one of the color drum units.

I just listened to the clip, mine was a similar sound but not quite that loud. Maybe a drum blade dried out and is rubbing on the drum. That's what I attributed mine to.

I forgot to mention that sometimes it sounds like 1 "something" is making the noise and then another will chime in from time to time(sort of harmonizing). So I guess it probably is the drums.

There is more load on the ITB when making color.
386 is Developer gamma for the black and 387 is for Yellow. Try running in single color mode to tie it down. Maybe a drive clutch. Maybe ITB drive. Sounds like a bearing trying to sieze up tho.

I like the drum idea. Your idea sounds like too much work. ;-)
