3228c Not sperating in tray 1

I switched the tires from tray 2 (never used) and it still feeds multiple blanks.

Its very unusual for me to have 1980's style feed problems with this machine.

Is there some goofy thing that I should check?

When you switched feed tires did you also switch the torque limiter? That would be the most likely culprit.

Torque limiter bad. Did you replace it or swap it with tray 2's?

If by torque limiter you been one way bearing or as I like to call it "blue cylinder thingy" then yes. Thats what I thought was causing it as well. I switched all three tires and what they are on.

The torque limiter is white. The sep roller connects with it when you slide it on the shaft. So after you take off the seperation roller, then you remove the torque limiter which is behind it. The blue cylinder thingy or 1 way bearing is on the feed roller.

Hopefully its the Torque limiter as a nice easy fix.
But I did have a problem on one of these range which two other Engineers went to before me and in the end it was a gear on the sep roller drive which had a few teeth missing which i only noticed once runing paper feed in output mode. The problem was also very intermittent as often the sep roller would get enough drive to do its job Im guessing the Customer pulled to hard when removing a jam from the reg side.

I'm with paulg on this one. I've had the teeth break on that shaft and it's not an easy fix. You can check them from the right side of the copier when you open the registration access door. It's on the end of the shaft that drives the sep roller.

That didn't fix it. When I went back out I found a black plastic piece in tray 2. Turns out its the piece that tray 1 pushes on to bring the feed/sep tires together.

Please tell me there's an easy way to replace that thing. I'm going to try to take one out of a parts machine to see how to do it.

Replace the whole feed assy (B1802701). You'll have to take off the right access door but it's not too difficult. I'm not sure if tray 1 assy is blocked by other parts, I know the 2nd is easy.
