Ok here is what's going on. We have 2 Ricoh 906s with the same issue. Empty waste toner message. We've called Ricoh tech support and replaced what they had suggested: the bottle, sensors, wire harness and motor. No luck the machine will run about 600 copies then shows the message to empty it. If you wiggle the bottle the message goes way but then comes right back. We looked for a counter or timer setting-nothing. Any tech pubs or ideas would be appreciated.
Go round the back of the copier and give the rear of the toner supply unit a good vac uout there is a sensor at the back that gets toner on it and on the mp9000 can play up

generally it is the waste bottle located near the 2 toner bottles that is forgotton about and causes constant messages. this has sensor in rear of machine that can get very dirty and throw up phantom messages
Update: Zyqwiz- yes I am aware that there are 2 waste bottles. I was referring to the one that's under the 2 toner bottles not the recycle waste bottle on the paper feed side...that one does have a timer that needs to be reset to zero after 557 hours to 600 hours of use when it requires replacement.
iMind-Thank you for the suggestions. I'll have the tech check it out on monday
collme and slot-Thank you also for the suggestion. The BIG boss got a hold of him and had him clean out the back. Apparently he hadn't.
Update: Found that the clutch that helps send the toner back up the auger to the toner bank was not working correctly. We performed a toner bank setup and saw the auger turn but during normal copying it would turn on at strange intervals. We were running 1000 copies and it didn't turn until after 246 copies then again after another 187 copies. By the time it went another 150 copies it turned but we saw one of the gears hesitate the the waste toner full message appeared. After replacing the clutch it started to feed the toner to the toner bank at 88 copies then again at 72, 78, 64,71 and so on. We completed the 1000 copy test and the message didn't reappear. Hope that this helps anyone else with this problem.
thank you all for the assistance.
