    907EX problems with TAB paper

    Hello All,

A fellow technician of mine is having issues on a 907EX with TAB paper not centering correctly lead to trail edge. The tech states that it is catching the trail edge of the original. Does anyone know of any settings that he can check? This machine is side by side with 2 other 907EX at a copy shop. All of them do the same thing. He has called Ricoh and they say it is the paper. These boxes are pretty new and they used to have 3 9000's that would run this same TAB paper with no problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Really surprised they run well at all. Tabbed paper is slightly longer than Letter Paper. We've not had much luck and Tabbed paper is not on approved or tested paper. Often you have a line on the trailing or leading edge due to the extra size. And jamming due to the paper timing.

Odd that the 9000's are (were?) OK

I assume he is using Tab sheet mode in the paper settings?

Asuming the machines have an LCT I would use tray5 for the straightest paper path.

The tabs should be plain card and not the type with clear tape over the tab (these may skew)

I have had an operator try to alter the registration of the text on the tab by adjusting the tab length in the paper setting screen. The tab length MUST match this setting (Default in UK is 13mm) or the tail edge of the tab will not exit the inverter unit correctly and will jam or skew.

Are you talking about an ORIGINAL or COPY jam?? if you run tab sheets through the ADF they may jam and you will lose the text in tab mode.

Has the ADF been set to "slow" mode? this should help with unusual stock.

The original must be on NORMAL size paper NOT a tab sheet. With the text the correct distance from the trail edge the machine will shift the text onto the tab.

Thanks for the replies. Tcs04, this is a copy issue not original. It isn't jamming, it is picking up the trail edge(line) of the original. Being that the tab paper is over sized, this makes sense. Yes, he has has it on tab sheet mode.

I will relay this information to the technician having the issue. When/if we find a way for it to work, I will post it. Thanks again!

Aint that the truth!! I spoke with the technician earlier and he said an adjustment took care of it.

All is well, for the moment.

              Which adjustment?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

Sorry, but I haven't had a chance to talk to him more about this being that we are a couple of techs short and have been busy as hell. If/when I learn more, I will post it. Later!
