Help with Efi Fiery S300 e-850-1

    Hi,

I have an Ricoh Aficio 3131 with a Efi Fiery E850-1. I have not realize that this copier is a rare item and even the Efi Fiery S300 E850-1. I am looking for the system cd and also there is a upgrade version from 1.0 to 1.1 that gives me the remote access to the fiery direct since i do not have the FACI Kit installed. I know it is old but i refuse to get ride of it because of the age....it has only 45K copies on it and prints like a charm...i just need to have some kind of backup of the system cd or is there a way to remove the HDD from the fiery and install in the normal computer and see if there is a restore partition that i would be able to do.??? any help would be great.

I think contacting EFI would be the best start.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Good question. I'd never even heard of this machine before this post. Let me have a mooch about, I'll see what I can dig up. Surprises me EFI keep bouncing you back to Ricoh, after all, EFI built the bastard thing in the first place!

Thats a rebadged Toshiba, it could be an estudio fc310, fc311 or even (the last of its line iirc) a fc3100.. yup... not sure where you can get fiery info on that one... I wonder if system disks from toshiba for the S300 would work with it or not.. either way. Good luck!

          Regards!

I believe the CD pack is part # VRC90046. It's listed as ServicePack - English in the parts manual. I've attached it....
I tried to download the Remote Access zip file but it times out. If anyone else here gets a chance, go to Color Copiers>3131>Print Controller E850 (along the top)>c850_remote_access.zip (not sure if it's a mistake on their part naming it c850 instead of e850).

Its a big blue Fiery right? I think they have a restore function. I'll look.
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

                Resotre Fiery S 300

Thank you for the information. According to Ricoh...It was branded Toshiba to start and Ricoh bought the rights on this copier witch it turned out to go from Toshiba e-studio 311c with the Efi Fiery GA-1131 to the Aficio 3131 E850-1. Remind you that also it was branded under SAVIN, GRESTENER, LANIER. So, i would figue as much that i would be able to get a little bit more support but not really. I called EFI, Toshiba and Ricoh and according to them...this is an old machine and don't have anything on this anymore. The printer that i have has on 45k copies and it is certified with Ricoh for the page count. I can't get ride of the Machine with this count and alos it realllllllllllllllllyyyyy makes nice copies color or b/w. Now, i am looking to restore the fiery this is the only thing i need to do. I don't want to spend 35,000.00 for a new copier because i can't get restore disk. I am thinking green here for our planet. I think the companies has the color green in the pockets...Any help is great. Funny to say that the toner is still going. I think this printer is not in there listing to support because they lost money on them.....good old strong machine and got stuck with the parts.lollll this is my opinion.

The 3131 was a total turd. Glad we have managed to get the last of them out of the field. I'll have a look, I might have an .iso file of the system disk. I've never had to restore one of those but I have been told it is painfully slow. The EFI controller is actually embedded in the machine IIRC and you have to transfer the image via the parallel port. I'll post back if I have it.

OK, so unfortunately I dont have an image of the software. There were two controller options, the E-750 was the one I was thinking of which is 'embedded', and the E-850 which is an external 'server' type.

Well some could of had some problems with but for what i need to do with is already folding 15 times for what i paid for...the day it break down in major parts it's out the door. It is a very heavy Machine but i will certainly get better later on down the line. Thank you the turd comment...(LOLLLLL)

I had a friend call me a few months ago asking if I could get the update files for this RIP.

Ricoh has the updates posted on the TRSC site, but the links are dead.

I called Ricoh, and I was told that there is a section on the site to report dead links.

I have done just that, twice now, and even after getting an email back that it would be addressed "soon", it's still not working.

Obviously, they have no intention of ever making the files available.

                        Go figure...
