Aficio 700 adf problem first document exits not second

On Aficio 700 if I run one document a t a time on adf it exits okay into right tray. If I put 2 documents the second will jam at entrance to document exit. Cleaned all rollers and sensors. Any help is appreciated. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

Are you feeding any documents through double sided? Have the feed items been changed recently, including the torque limiter?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Nothing was changed. Adf was working well for last several months and customer just called. I was only doing single-sided. The first document almost always exits but the second will jam just going into document exit. Frank

I had this problem on a MP7500, which is just a newer version of the 700 basically. I found that the connector on the adf drive motor was not fully seated on the motor. Pull the rear adf cover off and ensure you have good connections.

If it almost gets out I'd suspect a bad exit sensor or the exit junction gate isn't moving correctly. Is that where the jams are registered in the SMC?

x2 I've seen this exact problem also.

I agree (I think!)... I remember a problem a loooong time ago with a dodgey sensor on these ADFs. Enter the input mode test for the ADF (6xxxx) and monitor the various bit switch outputs for the sensors, you may see one of the outputs flickering from 1 to 0. be patient!! this can take up to a minute. Check the table and change the sensor indicated. You don't have to feed any documents!

Yeah, can't remember whether this model has a DF free run mode. If it has, set it going and watch the sensor outputs for uniform readings.

Thank you everyone for your input. I suspect it may be the sensor flag as suggested by someone else. He mentioned something about a modification with 2 small squares on axle which add weight and prevent bouncing etc. I only suspect it because the firs document exits so I am thinking the flag is either going back too with a hesitation or something like that . I will go back Tuesday and reexamine. i will check motor connection but machine was working for a long time and it seems unlikely that the connection would all of a sudden be loose and I am wondering if that would not also affect first document. I will check it out though. Thanks again. Frank

I haven't looked at a 700 for years but they used to get a collection of dust opposite the exit reflective sensor. There's a black cover that comes off on the right next to the transport belt. clean the paper dust off of it.
