if this was an easy thing to do then everybody would be doing it! But it isn't and they are not!!

    Thermistors / thermostats. Replace them.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Check the new thermostats before you install them, been bitten a couple of times with bad stats out of the box. (they were OEM parts) I'm suspecting they don't ship well.

Believe it or not, you can restore continuity through the thermostat by smacking it on a hard surface. First time I heard this I thought it was a load of crap, but I've tried it, and it works.

Spraying them with the sort of deodorant that sprays really cold works too, randomly enough.

Yeah, we have some places with Martini's in tiny little rooms that are like furnaces. Nothing worse than smelling like a tramp when customers are wandering around you.

SC555 wouldn't be the code if the fuse had actually popped. The early fuses generated electrical noise which caused SC555.

Maybe not by SC code description, but I have found failed thermofuses will sometimes cause this code.

Dont try to reset thermostats by smacking them on the back, the reeds can hop over one another and never pop again, therefore making them a much bigger problem, like fire!!. I replace all thermistors and therostats on any Ricoh fuser at PM. Seems to be solving alot of problems in this cold wintery weather.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas Edison
