[CQ] Ricoh 1515MF Single Line on both prints and copies

    Hi Guys,

Trying to see what part I need to replace on an 1515MF Printer/Copier. Paper seems to have a crease right after it goes through the pressure roller mechanism (atleast I think that's where it's happening). I did a test copy and opened the side door just before the print job was done to see if the crease happens after the toner is applied or after it goes through the pressure roller. Paper looks fine before going through the image fusing unit.

Paper comes out with a crease about 1/2" from the center of the page vertical from top to bottom. Any black toner is usually scratched out in white, anything blank usually has a faint line and a visible crease. I'm no printer expert so any troubleshooting tips would be helpful. Thanks.

The hot roller needs to be replaced (AE01 1086).

x2. Change the thermistor too, if the hot roller's got a line on it, the thermistor will be severely caked and will need replacing. Part number is AW10 0088.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Set the side guides in the paper tray against the paper and make sure the paper is flat, no turned corners.
Run some paper the long way or letter-r.
Check for toner build-up on fuser entrance plate and or burrs on the guide plates.
Check if image is within 2mm of original by putting them together and holding them up to a bright light.
If image is skewed/ crooked increase the loop timing in service mode.
Replace the feed roller and sep pad as a set.
A heat roller causes lines not creasing. A pressure roller will cause creasing, but this machine does't have that problem until the roller reaches over 300K.

            Like I always say............................................... .....
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I'm going to take apart after I run the tests that are suggested. What a great community.

I don't know what part of the country you are from, but here in the midwest, the hot roller causes lines and creases especially on this model and on the 22 and 27's especially.

Try some fresh paper before you take it apart.

Tried all the suggestions. The hotroller had a nice scratch on it, and the pressure roller also got a crease on it. Took it apart and sure enough the thermistor had a bunch of gunk on it. Found a local company in Oregon that carried those 3 parts for $60! I was quoted $600 to fix the problem. Thanks again guys, should I post if those parts fixed the problem as I'm just waiting for the parts to arrive.

Problem resolution is always appreciated. That would be great, helps us too knowing what suggestions worked and which ones didn't.
