Waste toner is not full, despite error on Ricoh FT6655

I have a Ricoh FT6655 which I need to use rather urgently.

It is giving a "Used toner bottle full" error, even though the used toner bottle is empty. I cleaned the toner exit pump area, vacuumed it, and the bottle insert ring, I checked the contact sensor, which is working, but I can't get to the back of the copier to see sensors at the back.

Could someone help me with how to get into service mode and find the error and clear it? Maybe the copier is just stuck in this error mode.

Also, if I am able to find the toner full sensor, and if it is defective, can I just put a jumper wire across the two leads, or should I leave them open? i.e. should the circuit be open or closed when NOT full?

Since the machine was discontinued 14 years ago, I think it just wants to retire.

Those really help me get the copier running -- I don't think.
And I thought advertising was AGAINST the rules of this site.

PLEASE, NO MORE POSTS THAT DON'T HELP !!!
Only intelligent posts to help me get the copier running!!
I need to get it going quickly; unhelpful replies only hinder!!

            SC full used toner bottle
            Definition: [level: A]
The toner overflow switch is activated.
            Possible causes:
            Toner collection bottle is full

            Toner overflow switch defective

            NOTE:
Clear the SC full used toner bottle as follows:
            1. While the main switch is on, open the front doors then take out
the toner collection bottle (used toner bottle).
            2. Remove the toner collection bottle then empty and clean the
            bottle.
            3. Install the empty toner collection bottle.
            4. Close the front doors.

The toner overflow switch could be defective and would have to be replaced, if you can get the part.
Ther isn't a way to clear errors in SP mode on this machine.

              jonhiker -

As said at the outset, bottle already empty; cleaned the bottle and toner discharge. Can't get to the back of the machine to reach the toner full sensor, and I cannot get the part. So I HAVE to do something innovative here, like jumping or not jumping the contacts.

Do you know if the sensor switch is normally closed or opened?

(BTW - There is no tech for 500 miles; if there was, I wouldn't need to ask this question on the web, right? Service Mangler should assume people know what they are doing, and either help or stop cluttering my thread with useless ego posts.)

scrathcyboy, you only seem to have 3 posts on this site and still seem to be giving attituded to other members. not a good way to get help. if you take the time to read through some of the topics on here, you will see that as well as helping, we have a bit of a joke around and post silly comments. it lightens the reading up a little and makes it twice as interesting. as for advertising, i gather your aiming that at manuals4u, see how many posts he has on here, 2032 at last count, alot of people are glad of his help and his manuals which some techs may struggle to find elsewhere. so scrathcyboy, chill a little and be nice, it will get you a long way on here.

What is so difficult to understand about "I need to get this copier running"?
What is so hard to understand about "Please, no more posts that don't help!"
Of 5 posts on this thread, 4 are useless and ONLY ONE person tried to help.
What can't you understand about "can you please help" - not clutter the thread with junk?
What don't you get? I am not "giving attitude" - the posts of no help are "giving attitude".

IF ANYONE CAN HELP, PLEASE POST ONLY IF YOU CAN HELP ME GET THE COPIER RUNNING.

I think you should buy the manuals and help your self! YOU are the welfare case. I dont mind assisting techs that have some training but I do have a problem with a schmuck trying to fix an old piece of shit while my brothers are looking for work.

No copier was ever built to be "the last copier that you'll ever need".

You're fooling yourself, badly, if you think you can continue to breathe life into a dinosaur like this. Discontinued for 14 years?!? Seriously? Then wonder why nobody out there can help you? All for free, no less? Sheesh!

Then keep off my thread if you have a sour attitude about a tech.

                            JONHIKER --

If you can wade through all the irrelevant comments here, I have determined that the sensor switch is working correctly. What is the next step? You seem to be the only person able to help and with any knowledge of the machine.
