    CL7000 reset fuser unit Correctly

    Hi Guys

Customer phoned about the machine displaying "replace black dev unit" One of our clever technicians went to reset it and now the machine displays "Reset fuser unit correctly". Looks like he did a memory clear, which he denies. All the counters (SC counter, jam counter, jam history......) are reset. So?

When the machine starts up it displays RICOH IPSiO CX8200 followed by "reset fuser unit correctly"

Tried updating the firmware with was a mission. Engine upload the fine. But i am having trouble with updating the controller. The manuals says something about using 2 flash card but in only see one file.

    Please help !!!!!

If you reset the plug and play to Ricoh CL7000, it will probably recognize the fuser,

Maybe you have the wrong fw. I only see one file for each of the BCU, MUSIC and SYS. This is the G080 right? I see BCU L; MUSIC B; NIB D; PRINT D and Sys E.
I think getting the country code right will straighten things out. Dont you hate it when a tech lies to you about what they did?

Where do you get your firmware from? TESSA?

I downloaded the system firmware and the number is ef3676686d With this firmware i get invalid data message.

This machines SP 5 808 = 0 and according to one of our other branches their working CL7000 SP 5 808 = 2.

            SP5 907 i only get 2 options 1) IPSiO CX8200
            2) IPSiO CX7200
            No CL7000

I see G0805601. I use a USA firmware site. Maybe Tessa is different.
I dont have one of those around any more so I cant tell about the destination code.

I've had a customer once who had reset his own CL7000 (only difference is he told me about it even before I touched the machine). So this means the customers, when motivated, can do it. So either your customer did it or the machine had some power problem (outage, surge, etc) that caused it. But it was a nvram reset for sure, since your symptom description matches mine to the letter.

Ipsio is the Japanese version I think. What country are you in?

OK got it right. Went into factory SP mode. There i could set the country code to europe which gave me the CL7000 option in SP5 907, which removed the "set fuser unit correctly" message.
Then i got a close front door message, which was luckily the front door switch. Then i got a SC990 message. I then tried to update the firmware but the machine will start with only one * , and go no further. I was running out of time so i just replaced the controller board and bob was my auntie.

                      Thanks for everyones help.

Out of curiosity: The customer paid for all that plus a slap on his forehead, right?

The technician did a memory all clear. He got hit six times with a 8982 hot roller on his bottom lip. He still denies it. :-)

But why grease it? Isn't it supposed to be a punishment? The only way I'd have it greased was only if I would dip it on fine sand afterwards.
