    [Error Code] Ricoh 6513

    Greetings to all tech gods.

I prey one of you can help me.

    I inherited a Ricoh 6513 aficio, unfortunately.
I say this because I am starting to think the only thing I have now is a heavy old piece of junk.
The problem is simple the solution may not be.
I turn on the machine after it warms up it says error code SC301.
I also do not have any user passwords whatsoever.
My question is ... Can I reset the machine to its default factory settings, allowing me to enter a new username and password.
I am told the error code could be a few different things.

    Ahmen.

    Hope you can help
    AND THANK YOU

    Monty

    SC301
    Charge current leak
    Detection Conditions
    Timing -
    When the main charge is
    ON in the printing process
    or process control mode
    - Condition -
The current leak is detected for 2 seconds.
    Possible Causes
Charge corona unit not installed properly
    Poor connection of harnesses

Defective high voltage supply board (C/G/B)

    Defective I/O control board

    Defective main control board.

    Troubleshooting Procedure
    1. Reinstall the charge corona unit properly
or replace the charge corona unit.
    2. Reconnect the connectors on the high
voltage supply board (C/G/B), I/O control
board, and main control board, or check
    the harnesses.
    3. Check and clean the charge corona unit
    receptacle.
    4. Replace the high voltage supply board
    (C/G/B).
    5. Replace the I/O control board.
    6. Replace the main control board.
    [Signal Check]
Leak detection: CN217-7 or TP120 on the I/O control board

I would say the most likely problem is the charge corona wire is broke or the black corona assy/pcu needs attention. This is a Toshiba box that you don't want to be iinvolved with if at all possible.

If the "key operator code" has been set, you can clear it using SP mode 7810. Good luck!

Ok, i assume, that you have a rip installed, and the question regarding factory settings applys to this one. But first at all, you need to print out a config page, so lets spot the sc301 first which seems to be a defective primary corona. Remove it, check for broken wires and/or for burned smell at the housings. If the housings seems to be ok, try to restring the corona and see, what happens.

The 3131 is a Toshiba, the 6513 is Ricoh IIRC. It will likely need to have the primary corona cleaned and checked. The unit is a pretty old beastie and needed much attention, especially if the customer was running heavy stock. I don't miss them.

That's the 2nd time in a week I've been wrong on my model info. Getting old sucks, thanks for the clarification.

We only had a few of them in the field, and they were all stinkers.

The only reason we sold the ones that we did was because of the heavier stocks they could print - and they didn't even do well at that.

As bad as the machine itself was, the RIP for it was even worse, if that's possible.

You'd be better off to do your best to make this albatross go away - you'll save yourself a bunch of grief that way.
