    MP6500 / SC 672

MP6500 - generated a 672 code (Controller Failure) - rebooted and recovered full operation. Machine has over 2 million - has been running consistently outside of the typical 555/542 codes.

Only recent changes have been thermistor, brackets and SP value changes to address warm up errors - also turned off AOF.

    Any information appreciated.

    Thank you.

If it's recovered from the SC code I'd suspect either corrupted firmware or a HDD that's on it's way out. Any other SC's registered at the same time?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

      672 B Controller startup error
After power on, the line between the controller and the operation panel did not open for normal
      operation.

After normal startup, communication with the controller stopped.
      Solutions:

      Controller stalled

      Controller installed incorrectly

      Controller board defective

Operation panel harness disconnected or defective

If everything rebooted and is working fine, it may have been a communication error and just needed a reboot. Double check the connections on the controller and maybe call the customer in a couple of days and check if the code has returned.

The 670 did not show in the Service Code History - the hsitory did however show a 991.

It's a long shot, but on some models I've worked on, simply cleaning the CPU cooling fan and the chip on the controller board works.
          The AF2060 comes to mind.

Is this machine installed with printer controller option? If it is, i am pretty sure that it could be a defective NIB board. Try removing the NIB board to confirmed it it's due to the problem.
            Good luck.
