    mpc 2050 k toner

i have a mpc 2050. dont have alot of experience on this model.it seems to load toner alright but the after 15-25 copies it asks to replace the k toner bottle eventhough its new and full. so i take the bottle out and put it back and loads toner ok and the after 20 copies it stops and asks to replace the bottle again.i can hear the toner bottle turning when loading. i cleaned out tthe toner hopper area. its had a new pcu and dev unit. what can it be? copy quality is perfect

This is a bit of an odd one. Try changing the black toner hopper assembly, but make sure you follow the replacement and adjustment instructions in the manual, if memory serves you have to put a little bit of dev in when you replace it. Check the toner supply system and motors and see if there's any gears missing teeth etc.

Have you tried doing a firmware update ?
I have a feeling a firmware update may fix your fault.

you might also havea bad toner bottle. i think that these models have a chip in them and i have run across this issue before and it turned out to be the toner bottle.

UPDATEtoday i replaced the toner supply unit and the black dev unit and followed the procedure of changing the toner supply unit. still the same. after about 60-70 prints sometimes varies. starts to ask to replace the toner bottle. after reseting the toner bottle, it works fine untill it stops again. the only thing to get it working is by turning off the toner end detection. when the bottle runs out of toner, copies start to fade. i also updated the firmware and performed engine memory clear with no effect.

When you say 'toner supply unit' you are talking about the toner pump as i've had a few go down .Apart from that we've had no problems at all

Maybe it's a problem with the toner bottle motor/drive? I think it's easy to remove the inner output tray to monitor the toner bottles during operation. Finally - if everything looks OK you might have a faulty toner bottle.

                        Re: mpc 2050 k toner

I'm having this exact same problem. Toner bottle has already been replaced, and I've checked the tonner hopper is working fine (when forcing toner supply via SP). I've also swapped the toner sensor on the hopper with another color.

Ash, did you manage to solve your problem? If so, how?

                        Cheers!

Does the graphic in WIM or on the display show toner below 20%? Does it go back to 100 when you put the toner back in? This may be an RFID board going south.
