    Ricoh MP1100

    Hello

I want to buy a Ricoh MP1100,but i dont know that machine.
I am used to work with Ricoh Af1075/2075/2090 and 2105.

    How the machine is?
    Any weak point?
I want to use for 15k-20k a day,all the days.
    Thank you

It's a good solid box if serviced properly and you have a good key operator.

It is better the the 2105 in most respects IMHO.

I've seen some that have issues with medaka (toner sticking to the drum) but that can be held off by using a synthetic wax on the OPC and applying the applicable official countermeasures (there are bulletins on this).

Encountered a few that generate main charge codes, had to change corona unit, HV board and blocks together as a set.

I've seen a few paper feed motor failures.

I have also seen several where the registration motor harness rubs on a bracket eventually shorting the +24V line resulting in unrelated codes, not always the same code either.

There is also a plastic rib that paper will wear into in the duplex transport the will eventually result in skew or jamming, I just remove the offending rib entirely.

That's all that immediately comes to mind although all machines have thier own 'character'. Otherwise a decent runner.

Wondering if you can give more info about that plastic rib in the duplex transport. We have a skewing issue on some of our Pro906s. The transport guides have a lot of ribs on them and I have observed some wear on these. I was thinking about replacing these guides because I see no other possible cause other than the fact that these duplex units have no joggers to remove skew (2090 series had joggers).

Are you talking about 1 specific rib that can be removed with little or no side effects? Any further info would be very appreciated. If possible, a photo could be worth a thousand words.

The skew occurs when paper had been in contact with an inside edge of one of the duplex transport guides and has worn a groove into a rib. The groove eventually catches the paper resulting in skewing as the paper moves past the worn area. I just trim it out with good side cutters (just the section clearly being touched by the paper) and file the corner left round and smooth. Either trimming or replacing should cure the skew, trimming will keep the issue from returning.

Thank You Zed. I was not looking on the insides of the ribs, just the tops. Will take another look.

Just a follow up on skewing problem when duplexing.

Thanks Zed for your input. On second look we found there was a groove worn into the inside edge on one of the ribs of the duplex entrance guide. Unfortunately trimming and smoothing the rib did not correct the skew. We could find no other possible causes so we had to try replacing the duplex unit. This has fixed the problem but I do not yet know what component(s) on the duplex unit is the cause.

Best theory at this time is worn feed/transport rollers - Maybe roller circumfrence has changed causing one or more of the rollers to slip a little during feed/transport. If we narrow it down will let you know.

Try increasing the registration buckle slightly.

Buckle adjustments were completely ineffective but thanks.
