    Ricoh 2060 CQ

I have 2 machines intermittently having a weird CQ problem. Looks kinda like double image. But...it's not in the direction of the paper path. Looks like laser comes on at the wrong time for the scan line. I've swapped IPU, BCU and laser units....still comes back I painted the ipu and bcu connectors with a decontaminant recommended by the manufacturer rep (stabilant) and the problem stayed away for 2 years and now it's back....no, painting with the decontaminant didn't help this time anybody seen this and have ideas? Please help.

I had this problem last year, luckily I had another machine next to it to swap parts.
After trying all PCBs, laser unit and polygon mirror without success, I tried the loom to the laser unit (no easy task).
        This repaired the fault.
I then refitted the old loom and it still worked!
I can only assume that it was caused by noise affecting the loom and, having moved it slightly, cured the fault.
The machine has been working for about 10 months.

yes, i painted the connectors on the laser sync board last october with 'stabilant' a really cool clear stuff for eliminating any kind of contaminent. worked great and a few weeks later i swapped out the sync board with a junker machine to be sure. no problems since last october. thanks for the update. glad to hear my machines are not the only ones acting squirrelly.
btw, what is the loom you're referring to?
