ricoh 1060 sc541 everyday

this comes up every morning. when i check fusing temp display BOTH thermistors read "0". hence the reason the code comes up.lamps are lighting. every once in a while i get a reading and then machine works fine until it shuts itself off. on power up the whole cycle repeats itself.
i've checked the plugs both on machine and back of fuser. checked thermistors. checked continuity of all wires in harness from fusing plug to conector on bcu. everything checks out ok.
i've cleaned the drum potential sensor the TSB refers to.
has anyone seen this? i don't have parts to just start swapping until i find a solution.
any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. thanx MUCH in advance.

I think you have to replace some parts, if you like it or not. Just start with the thermistors and thermostats.

[SC541] - replace center thermister - AW100084, this is the new thermistor.
This always seems to work for us.

Why not spray the contact cleaner to both end of fusing socket before changing the thermistor.

A common fault can be the harnesses, both fuser side and machine side. If thermistors dont solve the issue and all other fuser parts are fine I would suggest changing both harnesses.

Only change the all thermistors and you will solve the problem.

Seriously, I would look again at the fuser to machine interface connectors since both thermistors read "0". Throw another fuser into the machine if you have one to isolate the problem. It doesn't happen too often, but I have had to replace the interface connector on the fuser itself before. You might try shimming the connector, too, for a possible easy fix. Check the metal plate at the front of the machine that has the fuser position pins on it. If it gets even a little loose it will cause problems.

update: wanted to thank everyone for their help. put new thermistors in and at this point it seems to be working. so much for keeping it simple. thanx again for all the help. you guys are the greatest!!!

Just an FYI - when that high tech center thermistor (that they did away with) goes south, the copier displays 0 on everything.
