    [Jamming] MPc4500 fuser jams

    Hello!

Has anybody had issues with jams in the fuser on these boxes? The paper exits the nip between the belt and the pressure roller and then goes underneath the brass-coloured guide, showing a jam at the fuser exit sensor.

I have experimented with removing the guide, however the paper then wraps around the belt.

    Any thoughts?

    Chris

It isn't every copy, but if I ask it for 5 then it'll almost certainly jam at least once. The fuser has done roughly 80k since it was rebuilt and it doesn't seem to matter how much coverage there is. I printed out a colour test pattern from printer SP and it jammed doing both mono and colour copies of that. It also jams on standard office documents. I did suspect at one point that it was to do with heavy coverage towards the leading edge of the copies, however that theory died on its arse after a short period of testing.

Incidentally, Tonermunkeh has suggested an oil roller which I am trying tomorrow morning.

OK, only other thing I was going to say was that it might be worth checking the non default data and see if someone has changed fuser temperature settings

Ah, I didn't check that, but I will. Thanks!

I had one two weeks ago that had 7 of 8 jams in the fuser. That plate you mentioned was cvered in hard toner and the oil roller was as dry as a nun's crotch. After i cleaned it up and replaced the roller she worked fine and suffice to say I haven't been back either. Also my friend may I suggest firware is up to date.

Had same a couple of weeks ago, 7 of 8 jams in the fuser. That plate you mentioned was cvered in hard toner and the oil roller was as dry as a nun's crutch. Cleaned and replaced and haven't been back since. Also I did the firmware so bear that in mind.Ignore this for some stupid reason I posted twice. Fuckin whiskey!

I've cleaned the plate already so it's looking like firmware, an oil roller and checking the fuser temperatures thus far.

You've led me astray now, it's time for a drop of Ancnoc!

Ok, I checked all of the temperature settings and they were all at default. I then changed the oil roller and ran a few through without jams, however due to time constraints I didn't have time to do the firmware. Up until now, almost an entire day, the customer has not been back on screaming and I take their silence as a good thing!

                    Thanks chaps!

I had one of these giving me Jam 019 every other copy and found the paper was stopping at the entrance to the nip. I thought there was a problem with the fuser drive , but couldn't find anything wrong with the drive. After 3 hrs of messing about with it, out of desperation I moved the fuser entrance guide to open the mouth a little wider and Presto!! Sorted.....
