    paper misfeed error

Hi, this is my first post and i hope someone out there can help me. I'm working on a Ricoh Aficio 3025 copier and it has a J001 error code that just wouldn't clear. I've checked all the sensors and there's no paper in the machine but the code still wouldn't clear. Is there a code i have to put in to clear this code. My training is on sharp and Xerox so i'm not so sure about this one. If anyone out there has any ideas i'd be greatful. Thks.

    Like what else...

Do you know the comparable US model #?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I take it you have a misfeed condition that will not clear? Your condition is in the ADF Length sensors. If you look at the ADF input tray, you will see two optical sensors to the right side of the tray. Check these... they are probably dirty or disconnected.

Hope this helps.... And welcome aboard!!

The Af3025 sounds like a US model. I just don't recognize the "J001". AFAIK, there is no such code. Can you provide any more details on what you are seeing on the control panel?

          J001

The American equivalent models are Savin 8025 or Lanier LD225.
J 001 seems like a paper feed failure from paper tray one.

The B205/D007, as well as the B089 (I think this is a correct product code, my laptop battery is dieing!!) service manuals do not have jam codes listed, but after looking at the previous year model (B022), there is a J001 jam code for the length sensors in the ADF.

Now! To complicate matters a little... If you look at the Jam by Locations (SP Mode 7504), you will find the first code 7504-001 would be a jam detected at power on. It gives no indication as to where exactly the jam is located.

            - Remember to look at the LCD display. Does it show you a picture of the machine with flashing letters on it? Or is it showing covers to open? If so, follow those instructions first.

            - Open all the covers. Everyone of them until they are all open. Then close them until they are all closed. See if the message disappears. If the machine has a bridge on it, make sure to open and close that as well.

            - Next, if the message does not clear, I would double check every sensor location. There is a piece of paper somewhere and it is probably one that tore off at some point and is just small enough to cover or bind a sensor.

I had one do the same thing and it turned out to be the door switches(all of them).Seems Ricoh can wire door switches backwards from the factory but not bother to check the machines before they leave. Also had an MP 4500 give jams with no location but at power on.Think there are 4 or 5 switches. Can't remember if there is a bulletin on this yet or not.Good luck, let us know what you find.

Help! I have the same problem!

                    Dear Mr Sharpshooter.

I have the same problem, i try to clean some sensors but i does not clear. Can you show me the sensor which cause the problem ?

I Disconnect the ADF and the AD and the paper misfeed is still in C . I clean and replace the first sensor above transfer belt, the second finish sensor and the third is the sensor below 2 roller. After that, the problem does not clear...
