    3030 GHOSTING

Hi, All. I have a 3030 (B209) that is having a problem with a buildup of toner on the hot roller causing ghost images. I rebuilt the fuser a month ago (all OEM parts) and the problem has returned. Has anyone experienced similar issues with this model?

My thought is the fuser roller is running too cool, but maybe only occasionally. It should throw a code, though. With OEM parts, OEM toner, and all of the fuser temp settings set to their defaults, it must be an electrical problem affecting the fuser temp, unless they are running thick paper.

      Could be a few things...

Check to make sure the heat tube hasn't had the plastic frame beneath it break and cause it to float. If they have broken, replace the bearings on the heat tube with the ones from the 35/45 series that have a shoulder. It's cheaper than replacing the entire frame.

Is the Toner OEM, or did the customer try refilling the toner with something else? That will cause all kind of fun problems...

You can also check if the green lever (for printing thick paper) is in the up position. When it's in the down position you can get toner build up on the Hot Roller when printing normal paper.

I checked the machine out yesterday afternoon. There was a problem with the drum blade in the pcu this time. I also noticed, Eric, that the green release lever on the fuser had been broken off and will have to be replaced. Thanks for the replies.
