    Copy skew MPC4000

    Hello!
    I started a post a while ago because a had a problem with SC400.
Tried everything with no success. After rethinking again the whole problem i went back to square one. Redid the whole diagnosis and found that a pin of the plug (ID board) was bent.
(When i saw that i just wanted to give a shot in the head)
    Well, now my problem is:
At that time I didnt know what else i could do and i did a memory clear. I took the birth certificate and put back the values.
Everything is good except the skew in the copy (in the ADF and Glass). Print is ok but when i make a copy it is not good
There must be an SP to fix it .. but which one is? Allready looked the manual but i cant find it.
    Can sameone help me?
    Thank so much!

If memory serves it's in 6 - Perihperals.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

If the copy is skewed from the glass and from the ADF you should check your mirrors or check Copy SP - Scanner settings.

I would first try and print a test page from memory or a meter read page to see if the skew is still there if so its in the paper feed area, if not then try a copy off the glass to see if it is still skewed if so possible in the optics if not then try a copy through the df if skewed the belts or rollers are dirty or possible df allignment.

There are some setting to change leading edge and magnification. I haven't found anything about correcting skew. Are the mirrors in the correct position. Check if the 1st and 2nd scanner units are not bend.

That's my dilemma Eric. Already rectified leading edge and trailing edge. But i cant find any SP for skew.
I will see again the mirrors.
Thank you. I will keep you posted

Though I haven't really seen a scanning skew problem on these models, on older models it's always been the scanner assy is bent downward in the front left corner from people leaning on it. Try lifting up on it when you scan and see if that corrects the problem.

P.S.- there is no SP for optics skew, only a laser skew adj which is not your problem since prints are fine.

Thank you Teebee. I will see the mirrors or samething that could be bent.
                  I will keep you posted.
                  Once again thanks

I'd agree with teebees suggestion - this sounds like the scanner housing might be a bit bent down on the front/left area (even if the new models are not very delicate to rough handling compared to the previous generations). You might use the original scanner shipping support thing as a little help for this.

Just to be clear, it won't be the mirrors that will be bent. The entire scanner assembly frame could be too low in the front left corner (all it takes is about 1/2 in of drop to cause the skew) and it won't be obvious to the naked eye. Just pull up on the entire housing in that corner.

Yes, that was what I was referring to. And it makes perfect sense because the machine was moved after repair.
                        Thank you for your concern
