    [Jamming] MPC4000 intermmitent jamming at 18, 19 and 20

I have a MPC4000 that jams every day. When it jams it usually jams 5 or 10 times in a short period of time and them it goes away for a while. I was never able to make it jam but I see in the log the jams at locations 18, 19 and 20. One time the user left the machine jammed and I found one sheet of letter LEF about 2 inches into the exit unit and another bucked at the registration roller. When I go there I can run 500 to 1000 without a jam.
All jams are on letter size. Trays 1 and 2 are letter size. The one time that the customer left it jammed it was feeding from tray 1 but I don't know if it also jams when it feeds from trays 2, 3, 4 or bypass.
So far I replaced tray 1 feed unit, tray 1 feed clutch, registration sensor, fuser entrance and exit sensors, 2 sensors on the exit unit, fuser unit, fuser motor and I updated the firmware.
Any other ideas will be aprreciated.

    Hi there!
Had a similar problem with a MPC4500, after changing the registrationmotor (Stepper) the problem was solved.
    Greetings...

How many copies on the machine? Have you replaced the transfer roller? Is there curl to the paper? Have you adjusted/cleaned the fuser entrance guide?
the savin2535 is displaying well bet the hiter lamp is not shining and the lamp had been tested o.k.please kindly help.
Samir: No, not again. I... why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to God, one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window.

Have them remove 10-15 sheets from the top of the cassette stack before feeding. Sounds like damp paper to me.

Hey Semi , i had the exact problem with a client of mine they had MPC5000's with Sr790 i ended up changing the eproms on the finishers, ricoh RTB RD029032.

            INFO

            SYMPTOM
After Paper Jam 62 occurs for the first time, Paper Jam 17 occurs continually at the
registration roller and Bridge Transport when Ap-C2d (D029) is installed with SR790
Note: When Jam 17 occurs, the paper stops at the registration roller, and is not creased.
Since this symptom does not occur under normal usage conditions, we are unable to
estimate the occurrence rate. It only has the potential to occur when the paper slips.

            CAUSE
            Software bug of the SR790

            SOLUTION
            Temporary Countermeasure:
             Main Power on/off
             Finisher door open and close
            Permanent Countermeasure
             Replace the Finisher ROM (B4089450)
As this is an X/O modification, the old parts cannot be used
            Production line
After the April 2009 production, this new part has already been applied.
            Action in the field
Replace the ROM with the new one at the next service visit.

              Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
This machine does not have a finisher.
On Friday I replaced the registration motor and transfer roller.
Customer did not call today but I will need at least a week to believe it is fixed.
I will post it back if it works.

I have had the exit section of the machine start ceasing at the decurling roller. The bushing gums up and even wears the rollers shaft. Replace the bushing and the roller and do not oil. It has been worse in dirty environments and on several machines we have.

A late entry here, but thought I'd share it all the same. I had one of these doing weird jams at the fuser unit and resulted in a J19 code. After a week or so, I realised that the paper was curling as it hit the fuser entrance guide. I adjusted the guide to increase the gap (There are two holes on the guide for this), and haven't had a problem since. That was Xmas last year.....

On Friday the customer called back with same problem. It jammed 5 times on locations 17, 20 and 26. Since last time I also replaced the IO board, tray 2 clutch, registration motor and paper transfer roller.
Machine has 223k on color and 137k on black.
                    Any other ideas?

How's the fuser? Been rebuilt? Is this happening only on heavy color coverage by chance? I've had to adjust the entrance guide plate on a few of these recently out of the blue. I'm assuming it's from moisture in paper and environmental storage of said paper. Can you get it to jam when you're there? Can the customer recreate the exact situation where the symptom is present?

Wouldn't that show up as 001 (power on) jams instead of 017, 018, etc...

                          I replaced the fuser unit.
I cannot make it jam. The time before last I ran 1000 prints full coverage and no jams.
Customer can print same document again and it does not jam.
It only jams once or twice a day and when it does it will jam 5 or more times within a short print interval. After that it will run for hours without a problem.
I agree with the door switches logging a 001 jams but I will do them tomorrow because I am out of ideas.
                          Any help will be appreciated.
                          thanks,
