    MP201 Optional Paper Tray Size

    Hi,

We just installed a herd pf MP201s (roughly 20) at an account with offices all around town.

All have the optional lower paper tray.

They are all to have the lower tray configured for legal size (8 1/2 x 14).

For some funky reason, a number of them have been showing up as 8 1/4 x 14. The customer's help desk told me that they are seeing this on other MP201s across the country.

Easy enough to correct (using the (WIM), but frustrating.

    Has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks!

So (8 1/4 x 14) is the standard US size? Just uncommon, like (8 1/2 x 13 1/2) half foolscap or (8 1/4 x 13) folio? To me this sounds like a English/Metric paper size situation. Have you looked at the destination setting (country/language)?

And your answer is to set up a custom paper size (8 1/2 x 14)? Interesting ...

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Thanks for replying.

I never heard of 8 1/4 x 14 being any kind of standard, but here it is, from the WIM of an MPC6000:

All I had to do is set it for 8 1/2 x 14; not at all a custom page size.

      Weird!

It's no kind of standard that I've ever heard of either. No results from of Google search, either (8 1/4 x 14) or (210 x 356). It's not an A?, B?, or C? metric size either.

The closest I could come up with is the minimum paper size for many UK Canons and Konica Minoltas is 178 x 210 (exactly 1/2 of 356 x 210). If there is a name for it, I can't find it.

I'll bet the only symptoms are 7mm side voids, and the size displayed. =^..^=

We found the issue when printing documents that were mixed letter and legal size, alternating within the document.

Every time a legal size page would come up, a mismatch would occur at the machine, and printing would stop.

I didn't investigate "sub paper sizes", which will substitute European paper size calls with US sizes.

I'm thinking that since the lower tray is an option the guys in our setup center may have goofed when setting up a few of these.
