when a customer is only scanning

I have a few customers that have been going paperless and are using their scanner options in a high volume way. What is a fair rate to charge for each scan ?
How do you track these ?

There's a scanner counter somewhere up in 83xx, but I don't think it would be fair to charge the customer for the scan as the only thing the machine is doing is transmitting it down the network. The machine already has all the necessary equipment installed so it's not like you'd be adding the print / scan option just for them to do their scanning. The only thing I could suggest is to tell them excessive wear and tear on the DF feed items / clutches would be chargeable.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

There is still wear and tear on the panel, DF rollers, networking service calls, etc.

We use the "1/3" rule. We charge for scans over 1/3 of the print count @ 1/3 of a click. It's reconciled annually for the scans.
At our shop we only have 4 or 5 customers that exceed the 1/3 scans to prints. And the ones that do are more like 2/1 scans to prints.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
