Grab the front left Edge of the Scanner Frame and pull it upwards, then make a copy again while pulling. What happens?

Did you perform the ATR Adjustment?

Mr. Johnny I see some lines on your copy, please verify if your slit glass is clear from any scratches. You can adjust density of document feeder in service mode. If all of this fails you can replace slit glass and lamp, by the way the amount of copies is quite high.

The post states clearly that it happens on the exposure glass as well, and the # of copies means nothing.
Have you tried doing the auto colour calibration for copier? You say you have replaced lens block and lamp, but have you also thoroughly cleaned all the mirrors and reflectors in the optics section too?

All the mirrors have be throughly cleaned and there is a complet backround on the copies. Was wondering if anyone has had to adjust the postion of the scanner as suggested in the the first reply. All colour calibrations done and print outs fine.

Might check scanner "Manual Gamma" (4-918), default value is 15. I've had to play around with that (and on the older machines that would bite me in the sitting muscle every so often). Still, larger values make darker copies (from the platen glass as well as the document feeder) and has no effect on printed images.

                Okay wait.

Are we talking about that nasty optical distortion, or the spots?

Could it be related to that bad run of CCDs Ricoh has awhile back?...

I've had a dirty white reference plate cause mental problems like this on an Athena. It wasn't actually VISIBLY dirty, just a layer of of muck on there the machine could see but I couldn't.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                  Hit it.
