[CQ] Ricoh 3224c poor copies (ok Prints)

    Hi Guys,

I have a Ricoh 3224c that prints the test page fine, when i copy the c4 test chart from the platen glass the copies are feint, i.e. if i copy the c4 test chart in colour mode, the colours below scale 5 are not shown, i have tried the white balance adjust and have cleaned the white bar under the glass(and optics) but still the density is poor.

Are there ant sps to change for this or has anyone else had this issue?

    Any help appreciated in advance.

I believe that there was an optics block update for this model several years ago. We had to go and replace all of ours out in the field. I forget how much of the optics was included, whether it was the lens and/or CCD/IPU. I also forgot the symptoms that it was supposed to address. Not to be a downer on your machine, I am also trying to forget that family of machines!!! But we had a few of them that worked OK. Sorry I am not more useful here. Did you try the Auto Color Calibration under User Tools / Maintenance? It really does sound like you were right to clean the optics and white plate. If you used a dry cloth, maybe you could try some 99% Isopropyl Alcohol on your cloth for the mirrors.

I agree, you could get the lens block assy under warranty some years ago, but they were notoriously dreadful as colour copiers (and not much better as printers.)

It pains me to say it, but a salesman may be your best answer to this problem!

I thought the RTB about the Lens Block Assemblies applied only to the AF1224/1232. I don't find anything in the AF3224 RTB's

You're probably right, I didn't look this up and I've had a few beers...

This is certainly a job for the sales people. You're right about that!

            Cheers!

Thanks for the replies, what i found out in the end was someone had colour copy mode with ads on default. Although the ads should have been darker, i changed it so as default was not on ads which bought the colours back to match the test chart, i should of pressed hash and copy settings to revert it back to default which would have resolved the problem more quickly!!!
