Ricoh 2022 - creased copies

hi

i have aRicoh 2022, and when copying from tray1 i get creased copies, this doesnt happen when copying from tray2. Ive changed the pressure roller in the fuser and still no joy...
any ideas?

is the paper slewing from tray 1, or is it a thicker paper type?

Have you tried changing paper orienation? or replacing the feed roller? or just clean the roller with some spirits to see what happens... goodluck

thanks for that guys! i have cleaned and then replaced the feed rollers... i changed the orienation of the paper and there is no jams or creased... wierd
still no luck....

Sounds like the side guides on tray 1 need to be centred. Users tend to force the rear guide towards the back of the machine when loading paper. This will cause either skewing or creasing only on the tray concerned and would explain why changing the orientation "cured" the problem.

Agree with tcs04, that usually helps. There is also a bulletin about keeping green release lever in the
"down" position but has never worked for me. Good luck.

check for toner build up on fuser entrance guide and also the small tips on the guide can break causing creasing.

There are four holes in the fuser entrance guide, right? Try to put the screws on the other two holes.

Check also the upper entrance guide plate (A267 2721) and the cushion (AA16 1143) in the paper registration section. When the cushion is defective, papers tend to crease or jam crossing that path.

Also make sure the pressure roller isn't going really soft, I've seen a bad / worn out pressure roller cause creasing too.

warped guide / toner / roller probs would cause jams from other trays as well? no?

Might want to check the tray 1 vertical transport guide?

Is this a single defined crease from lead to trail on on the copies or random "wrinkles" in the paper?

If it's one crease check the hot roller as it can get build up or wear at the thermistor and cause a lead to trail edge crease if it's SEF in tray 2 it might not be as noticeable as LEF from tray 1.

If it's random wrinkles, have you tried opening a fresh ream of paper? I see you've replaced the press roller and if your image is square on the paper the issue is likely skewing in the fuser. Does the bottom case of the fuser have the little tabs or "ears" to retain and locate the hot roller? If they are cracked, broken or otherwise missing the hot roller can "walk" back and forth causing wrinkling. If you haven't already, you can use the AE030047 from the 35/45 ppm fusers to field fix the broken tabs in the fuser case. Just put the retaining ring on the bearing on the outside of the metal frame inside the fuser and then install the retaining ring after the roller and bearing are installed. I actually have a few in the field that have both bearings replaced with the 0047 bearing.

he said when he changes paper orientation the problem is gone, so depending where the toner build is or which probe is broken it can still be a fuser problem. don't get me wrong i am not dismissing your suggestion but you shouldn't dismiss ours so easily.

Ive seen a warped fuser entry guide only affect one tray - thats why its a wierd fault

paper orientation could be the factor there, cause if you're running 8 1/2 x 11R it would not pass along the whole length of the guide. i have gotten this problem so many times already.
