    [Dead] Lanier 5455 Kaputt after SC336

    Hello again.

    Today our Lanier 5455 seems to have kicked the bucket after displaying a SC336 on powerup. Our technician replaced the polygonal motor to no avail. The machine keeps restarting continuosly when powered up. Tried replacing the Power Supply Unit to no avail either.

    Sometimes another SC366 is issued. Tried without hard disk; same restarting behaviour.

    We suspect the mainboard is fubar but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

      Does your service contract cover the cost of this repair or will you be paying for it? Replacement boards will be more than the machine is worth, not to mention the Mojito was a terrible machine as it was. Let the old girl die in peace and buy a new one.
      It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          We don't have to pay for the repair fortunately and we even have another replacement board. We will check that next monday.

          PS - What does "Mojito" mean? It's a beverage name here...

              Ah, sorry - the Mojito-C1 and C2 is the design name of the 5455. It's an Aficio 551 in Ricoh speak I think.

              Anyway, back to the fault. The BICU board is the most likely suspect according to the service manual.
