[Misc] Broken drum cup gear ( MPC2500)

Hi , I am working on MPC2500, one of the cup gear is broken (See attached photo, gear with red circle is broken), so the drum unit is not driven at all. Is there a easy way to replace it without taking too much parts out? thanks.

Never seen that before, however have seen a few other faults with the drive unit. It is a big pull apart - you need a good half day and a lot of patience (and a good dose of luck). I suspect you will have to remove the drive assy.

Sorry mate.... easy way? In a word ..... no.

That drive bracket is a PITA to replace.

How did the damage occur in the first place as I personally have never seen this gear damaged even on machines with sky high counts? Only thing I can think of is a seized drum unit.

Agree with you there even when you get the drive unit out, it's a nightmare to strip and back together, it may be cheaper in the long run to replace the unit, pricey I'm sure.

Yeah, what he said! I feel for you! You are definitely going to need the service manual for this job. Just WOW!

I speak from experience when I say it's a PITA

I've usually had to replace them when some halfwit has "modified" the connector for a black drum to use as a colour, but not cut enough off the corner of the connector and slammed the pcu into the machine pushing the female end into the drive bracket.

                Nightmare job...
I had to replace the drive unit a few weeks ago and only had a second hand unit in a traded machine...so I had to strip the drive assy out of both machines...fit the used unit to the customer's machine only to find that the used unit had a fault...ordered a new drive assy(very pricey)and fitted it to the customer's machine.
I am now by default the company go to man for MPC2500....great

And THAT was the reason that I had to do the job in the first place...and the tech that did it now works for Ricoh...go figure
