Re: mpc2551 can't connect to network
the ip add of the machine is 192.168.1.23,255.255.255.0 ,while my laptop is 192.168.1.24,255.255.255.0, gateway is 192.168.1.1. ,I used crossed cable to connect to the machine. i have used only 127.0.0.1 to test the machines nib and it is successful.Comment

Re: mpc2551 can't connect to network
if you have put in the static ip address what does the config sheet say the ip address is?
if the ip address that you put in is different that the ip address you put in than the controller is not accepting your ip input and that probably is the nvram not accepting so that needs to be replaced.
If the config sheet does have the ip address that you put in then I would check if you are able to web into the controller than try updating all the network firmware. Have you tried using another ethernet cable have seen that cable not ping the copier but all link light is lit. Hope this helps, good luck.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.Comment

Re: mpc2551 can't connect to network
Can you scan a config page and put it on here please? It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment

Re: mpc2551 can't connect to network
If your trying to ping 127.0.0.1, you're pinging your own computer, and yes, that's most of the time a succesfull ping. Check all IP-settings (IP-adres Subnet Mask, Gateway). Is your machine equipped with a Gigabit-NIC, then you can try to set the NIC manually to 100 Mbps.Comment

Re: mpc2551 can't connect to network
Check to see if the IEEE802.1x Authentication(ethernet) is set to inactive.
Does the machine have a fax installed, I was having the same issue with MPC2050 wich was resolved just by reseating the fax board when i went to replace the controller, Ricoh tech support couldnt figure it out why either but might be worth a shot."See if you can rent a spring hook and a phillips screwdriver it will make your life that much easier..."Comment

Re: mpc2551 can't connect to network
Whoa, first thing to check is that the NIC is enabled in sp5985-1 (set to 1). When the print controller is installed, that value has to be set (default is '0'). Someone may have forgotten to do that.
*FYI- As a side note to everyone (some of you are probably already aware of this), when the new mfp's that have the NIC preinstalled at the manufacturer are shipped, they are now setting sp5985-1 to "2". This allows printing and pinging but blocks access to the WIM. You will have to set it to "1" if your setup people miss it.Comment

Wasn't aware of that, thanks. Now if only I can remember that...A Ricoh Service Tech for 7 year. A Konica Minolta Service Tech for 7 years. Now, KM service manager for 4 years.
My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...Comment
