    ricoh 2045 fusing

    Hi guys,
How do you find the fusingcapabilitys on these machines, i have one or two out that when the customer uses labels they dont seem to fuse very well, even on normal paper theres problems.

    Any suggestions?
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

      - make sure the pressure roller is good.
-try to increase the temperature setting
      - select the paper type to thicker.

      good luck.

Yes as stated above you MUST select thick in copier mode, and if printing you can select labels in the print driver

If I'm right in thinking, you can do this from the bypass tray, or from a normal papertray by pressing # while the desired tray is selected..

thick paper avail only from bypass , and yes press# when bypass selected.
This setting does not take effect when printing from desktop. You must select paper type in print driver after you select bypass in driver

              fusing pressure

The only effective way of clearing this fault is to form the pressure roller lift spring arms to work like the ones on the previous ranges.SOme of the faulty ones even let you see daylight between the fusing rollers.

Yer there should be a constant front to rear nip band where the pressure roller flattens out against the hot rollers surface.
If you can see daylight between the rollers that is not a good sign.

The whole problem with these models is the finer toner and it's so called lower melting point.
But the fusing temp can be highered just for bypass using SP1105-003 and 004 which should sort the problem.

Also enabling fuser idling (SP1103-001 and 002) can help within colder enviroments at the expense of 30 seconds of extra rotation at start up and a little more ware and tear.

Thanks for the input guys, the machine is in a corner of an office and i suggested using the bypass with thick paper set. The only problem is that the customer says they have no room to open the bypass!!! I have upped the temp to 165 and 175 on both middle and ends. Seems to work at the moment, next visit is firmware as i have made some fuser idling adjustments and it seems to idle a bit too often. Overall it seems if its not as thin as tracing paper, they suffer from fusing.
