Maybe the machine has some limitations enabled? Like color copying/printing?

Does the machine feed the original through the ADF?

Firmware up to the latest version? Maybe a reload helps.

Had it been any driver updates recently? Any printer server software updates? It can't just stop scanning - something went wrong due to something. As mentioned before - update a firmware to the latest, check all of the settings. Should help.

I had this once and strangely fixed it when I replaced the fuser.
