    Ricoh MPC2500 Firmware

I need the firmware for the Ricoh MPC2500. Please email me at mitch_kt@hotmail.com

The problem I am having with the copier is that after about 100 prints the copies are totally faded and the machine does "Loading Toner" on occasion without a new toner added. I have changed the Developing Unit , New Toner, inspected the Toner Pump and verified that the toner is turning in the machine. The problem cleared when I changed the developer or Developing unit but after about another 100 copies it starting printing faded again. I read on the forum that a possible solution is to update the firmware but I no longer have access to Ricoh firmware , our company switched to Duplicator sales only.

Try removing the shutter on top of your laser unit.

The toner pump contains a clutch that sometimes failes. Replace the toner pump. If you replace the dv-unit, the machine has enough toner for that moment. After 100 copies or so it's going to add toner. Can't find any RTB about this.

I'd also say this is not FW related - it's easy a faulty clutch (something you can't usually determine via inspection) or an issue with the shutter (there was indeed a FW fix, but that was ages ago). Maybe the thread starter could post the FW versions of his machine to determine if these are old or not.

This is what I was thinking this also but I read somewhere on this forum that upgrading the software would fix the shutter problem plus the firmware has never been updated on this machine. I will most likely just go ahead and remove the shutter on Monday.

          thnx for response

In fact, it should be simple to diagnose this problem. If the machine is going to load toner after 100 copies you should see a change in the Vt-value. If the value is too high, the dv-unit needs toner. The machine will start to add toner using the toner pump. If the clutch in the toner pump is faulty, the dv-unit doesn't get enough toner.

X2, this is always the problem with add toner, etc. for this model. Always check the toner pump,Development drive motor-CMY and hose. isolate it in using the good toner pump. If i am right yellow to black - cyan to magenta pumps are interchangeable.

try cleaning toner supply pipes, had a few problems with them causing the same fault. Need to remove at both ends + blow clear

I also need the firmware, the doc feed rollers are dirty.

Yeah, clearing the NVRAM solves it... I'm almost 100% sure that an NVRAM-clear won't solve this issue. Check the manual : NVRAM-resets are only to be done when the machine behaves erratic. That means strange SC's and error messages that do not make sense. Well, a faulty toner pump assy is NOT erratic behaviour.

You could try doing a forced toner supply or two until the density's right and then initialising the TD sensor.

This won't work if the pump's cattled, of course.
