    Manual desired......

    Hi guys,

I was advised by someone who's name I could not possibly divulge, that it would be okay to put in a request for a manual, even though I only joined 5 seconds ago.
However if I go to the Manual forum, there is no button to create a new post, so is it correct to do it here?

Well here goes, so apologies if it's in the wrong place!

Does anyone by any chance have a manual for a Nashuatec 3913?
I believe the following are all equivalents too: Ricoh FT3813, Rex/Rotary 8913Z, Gestetner 2913Z, Infotec 5132Z, Savin 2013Z, Unit C913.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may have one.

    Cheers Russell F

Some people do, most people don't. Paul makes a living selling manuals - it's your own choice to either wait for someone to hand it to you or to head into Paul's site and buy it - or none of the above.

Most people trade manuals with members with some seniorship, although I've seen some newbies get lucky. My advise? If you're not in a hurry, wait and see. If it's rather urgent, then Paul's price is a bargain.

      Cheers!

        Ahhh, I see........

No, no hurry at all. It's working tickety boo at the moment (fingers crossed) anyway.
Apart from that, it looks like I may be stuffed when it comes to spares soon.
It's done hardly any copies compared to my old Canon though, so hopefully it will last for a bit.

        Cheers Russell F

The reason you don't see the New Thread button under Service Manual Requests, is that you must have a minimum number to posts before you can see the button. The idea is to discourage folks that are just here to beg free stuff, and contribute little. Hopefully you won't be one of those. Time will tell. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

To be fair, he asked me if he could already ask for the manual. Since he first opened a thread first about a problem on his machine and we walked through the solution, I told him to go ahead and ask for it.

                Wow - cheers Bantam.........

I had the user manual, but certainly doesn't hurt to have a spare on the computer.
The service manual and parts lists look like they are the correct ones, but there is no mention anywhere of any of the model numbers that I knew of......
Instead it shows them being for model number A202/A203?

But hey not to worry, they look right with a cursory glance, and I'm sure that they will be with a harder look too!
Curious about the numbers, but "I know nothing" (said in my best Italian accent)!

Fantablious and great to have a working machine back after a month or so without!

                Cheers again Russell F

I remember the good old days when manuals used to be eleven bucks.

Paul should put disc sets out by year and sell them for the back issues and/or start a monthly subscription service where you can access them all online from anywhere as long as you have internet...plus with the subscription you'd get access to future out coming models.

My site at manuals4you.com sells manuals on CD. I have to do some work on that site though and raise some prices.

And there's not a lot of difference between your current $12.77 and the old $11.00 anyway I suppose.
We've all got to scrape a living some how, and I don't begrudge you charging for manuals.
I've bought manuals in the past from other vendors at similar prices.
Ooh just checked, last one was around $7....... Ouch!

Maybe I could make a site for ricoh manuals and upload them and allow Free access or Charge a nominal fee to help running costs say 50p

                          Re: Manual desired......

With due respect to the newcomers on this thread, there is a priceless amount of information already on this site, and generally lightning fast responses to new questions asked; However, it drives me somewhat batty when people come on in a panic, demanding advice (I'm not referring to this thread), It's an "emergency!", and will tinker around for weeks trying to solve a problem, and then in comparison, we have posters here that say $12 is too much for a SM.
Guess what? It's a service -you don't like it, don't use it! But a service manual is also a priceless tool, and most of them also apply to more than 1 model. No amount of words on a screen can take the place of a proper service manual.
This forum is generally for sharing information from techs of all different levels sharing information about prior experiences, when the manual often comes up short.
I would never service ANY machine long term without a proper service manual, and if I had to pay $12 to get it, I wouldn't even blink.
And for an end user (relating to this thread) to come on and complain about possibly having to pay for a resource like that in his first thread, after already receiving information that has saved him hundreds of $$, bringing a 15 year old box back to life, well that IS a little offensive if you ask me.

....and that's my rant for the day

Hey if some people want to charge for manuals goodluck to them but charging $11 dollars for one is a rip off when a Ricoh Tech can get them all for erm well Free.

Depending on your countries law (and prosecution) it might not be a good idea to sell PDF copies since it's (usually) considered as copyright infringement. Even giving copies away for free isn't legal (like file sharing of copyright protected content). It doesn't matter if manufactures spread service manuals among authorized dealers for free - it's always up to the copyright owner to decide about how to handle these goods. If a student receives free windows licenses for educational purposes it's forbidden to sell these or - even worse - sell as much copies as possible. One might call it nitpicking - doesn't change it's a fact that these "manuals against $$$" sites aren't better than hosting any other warez sites - I personally think it's even worse since most warez sites offer their goods for free

                              Back to our business:

Most people would probably start bitching around if any tech would give away detailed and idiot proof informations/instructions (service mode access, disable double click, counter cheats) to somebody who obviusly appears to be some end user from fixya. But noone cares that all these informations one might ask for (in order to save a tech) are available for a few bucks to everybody anyways. I know it's too late to stop the cancer since there are plenty sites out there selling or sharing manuals and the manufactures have other problems than sueing some warez idiots since these are spreaded all over the globe.
