Ricoh mpc 4500 not printing....

HI GUYS

I have a mpc 4500 and the damn machine isn't printing, ping from pc is ok... scan to folder - no problems!
but when sending a print job is fails....
all firmware is up to date
help!

nope nothing, just an error in the printer icon

sounds like there is a print job stuck in the que backing everything up.

Are you sure that you haven't had any finger trouble at all, with the port for example?

Does it print from other PCs?

Is it printing via a server?

Can you print directly from a PC?

And so on...

lets start with the basics. 1 do you have happy lights on the nic, amber and green ?? if this machine has the gigabit nic you won't see green unless you on a gigabit network. 2 is sp5985 set to 1, not 0? Zero dis ables the nic, 1 is fully functional,2 is print only. Now take the network out of the equation and connect your laptop via crossover cable and setup your print driver to print to the machine. If print fails after all this you have a machine issue, if printing works this way your customer has an IT issue for thier IT dept. Hopfully your not thier IT dept. IF thier useing user codes to restict print and you don't have a code in the driver the data light will flash 1 time and not print.

first of all the green and amber are on, scan to folder is working fine... i can ping the machine from the pc and ping back to the pc from the machine, the nic is on "1"

ive deleted and reinstalled driver and still no luck...

any ideas?

I assume you can log into the WIM? If so, then Sometime ago I remember a post about this issue, and the solution was that under 'network security', DIPRINT and/or LPR had gotten disabled (by a client that refused to admit it). This DOES produce the non-print issue you describe, while scanning, etc, still function properly. Basically the defaults in this section are that everything except "bonjour" should be "enabled". good luck

the funny thing is cannot even log into the wim... just comes up with HTTP 403 Forbidden...
ive switched on the telnet via command prompt etc, but no luck

WIM Not accessible?

- Make sure SP5-828-091 is "1" (ON)
Also..
- User tools / System settings / interface settings / permit ssl/tls communication/ set to "clear txt/cyphertext
