    [Misc] Am I being anal?

I know this is really a rant but its specific to the MPC6000/6501 series.
When I'm working on the PCU units, it really frosts me when I find that the screws with the captive washers that secure the side panels are used in other locations and regular screws are substituted. I realize there is nothing mechanically wrong going to happen but in my opinion it shows a lack of attention to detail by the previous tech.
For some reason, this is the only time mismatched screws bother me. Maybe it's because these POS boxes require so much work that I can blame others for some of the calls (ie- cutting corners).
Anyone else have this or some other peeve with this model or am I just taking it too personally.

    Yes you are anal...LOL
It bugs the piss out of me too...also when screws are left out...if you remove 12 screws put 12 back...don't mix silver and black screws (once a black technician said to me..."notice that the black screws do all the work"...laughed my ass off

I remove as many screws as possible. Don't want vibration noise.

Oh course not where customer can see them like around the glass area

        Re: Am I being anal?

What bugs me, is when somebody leaves off 10 out of 11 cover screws. I remove (1) screw and the metal cover crashes to the ground. The enduser looks over at me, like: What a klutz!

        Um, no ...
        =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Your not anal, you want it put back together the way it's supposed to be. My father tought me this when I was a kid. We would take a part my dirt bike or my car, and he would throw all the screws nuts and bolts in a coffee can. Then tell me to put it together. He knew what went where. That's how I learned to put them back together. I have 8 tech's to watch, and they don't like me for that!!!!!!!!!

Cover screws missing don't bother me, it's on the functional components that do. And it's really more of a problem for me on the mpc6000/6501 due to there are enough problems with this model without my inner voice berating others for not paying attention or caring.

                    Re: Am I being anal?

Id be tempted to leave all the screws out in the hope that the piece o crap falls to bits and the customer realizes how bad the machines are and upgrades to a mpc5002 or something instead

The field tech in me says "yes, why am I waisting my time with all these useless screws?"
The supervising tech side of me says " Come on guys, if your too slack to put the screws back in the covers what else are you missing out on?
