You can reinstate SMB on OSX 10.7.x (and possibly 10.8.x, but I have yet to test it) by downloading SMBUp:

Download SMBUp for Mac - Reinstate and manage Samba on OS X 10.7 Lion. MacUpdate.com
    Original site (currently down) http://eduo.info/smbup/

For Windows 8 we will need to look into disabling SMB2.2, a few forum threads around suggest a registry fix: https://community.emc.com/message/597592#597592
but I have yet to test it. (Currently downloading ISO).

That's why I always force users to use FTP scanning.

Anyone know if there is a fix for this yet? New firmware out there? Or a work around?

I did a SMB folder installation today, Kyocera FS-3640 to Win8. Other than incorrect login information provided, it was a lot easier the Win7. The driver disk Autorun failed every time, but if I inserted the disk, ignored the new window, the followed the Add A Printer wizard it worked fine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Is there any update on this? I have just encountered the problem with Server 2012 E.

I've not yet had a chance to experiment with this, but I will revert to SMB v1 on the server and retest. Probably won't get to it for a few days...

              Update on What?
It's stated in this and, other threads dozens of times that a firmware update is required, for ANY and ALL machines, and depending on what machine you're referring to (since my crystal ball is in the shop), yours might not even qualify.
Set up FTP scanning or scan to email and be done with it.

I'd like to know if firmware updates, in general, were being made available for to solve the SMB issue. My vendor is clueless to the problem, and I'd like to be able to tell the rep what other companies are doing.

I didn't intend to irk anyone. It seems a reasonable question to me.

You're not irking anyone. It's a reasonable question and I'm not sure what's up that guys butt. Anyways I'm also paying close attention to the firmware updates for this. SOME PEOPLE DON'T WANT SCAN TO FTP simple as that!. If you look on the TRSC site some firmware was released depending on the model. Not sure if it works or not haven't tried it. If they're not using Windows 8 on their desktop I put the folder there. Just when it's Scan to folder on the Windows 2012 server or any Windows 8 OS the scanning has a problem.

What's up my butt? 3 pages of posts stating over and over that a firmware update is required if it's even a qualifying machine (which is still a mystery).
But thanks for stating it ONE more time for good measure, and the "workaround" that you yourself asked about on page 2 of this very thread, would be the 2 options I (and others) suggested above. So sorry if you don't like FTP

There is firmware on the Ricoh site for some models, I'm off to try the network support / system firmware on an MP C2051 today !
                      Wish me luck

For those of you who are Ricoh or RFG techs, logon to TSRC at least once a week and click on "What's New" in the upper right corner. New firmware updates are announced there. For some older models, check "FIRMWARE SPECIAL/CUSTOM" in the Tech Tool Box if there is no regular firmware update. If you do use a special/custom firmware and you have to reload firmware in the future, reload the special/custom firmware last.

                                Hi guys,

we are italian ricoh tech w/o tessa access.
I would like to know if in the last FW updates MP5000 is in the list.
If so, could you be so kind to provide me this FW. Because Ricoh Italian Portal still won't provide it. (still 1.16 version)

                                Thanks a lot.
